The present invention relates to a method of treating solid surfaces where a suspendable liquid mist provided with suitable surfactants is applied to the surface to be treated, and the liquid mist drops have a surfactant content of from 10 to 3000 ppm by weight, based on the total amount of solvent, and an average drop size (weight-average) of <=100 mum and to the use of surfactant-containing suspendable liquid mists for deodorization, decontamination, disinfection, corrosion protection, preservation, the stripping of solid surfaces or the placing of beneficial animals and microorganisms onto these.
