PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging circuit for monitoring the voltage of AC power for several periods immediately before the charging operation, to make an automatic decision based on the results of monitoring and automatically change control parameters, and to provide a control method thereof. SOLUTION: The charging circuit comprises a voltage monitor circuit for monitoring the AC voltage of AC power supplied from an AC power source and outputting the results of monitoring as an AC voltage monitor signal, a rectifier circuit where switching elements are bridge-connected, and a control circuit for calculating the peak voltage value and the period of AC power based on the AC voltage monitor signal before starting the charging operation, determining an AC power system connected with the charging circuit, selecting the control parameters of every AC power system preset in a memory, and controlling the switching elements based on the selected control parameters.
