PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a state detector for a recording head which detects a state of the recording head accurately and at a high speed without a circuit of a driving system being broken. SOLUTION: In the state detector for the recording head which is prepared in the recording head that ejects an ink by applying an electric energy to energy generating elements, the state detector for the recording head is equipped with a driving circuit which drives the recording head, a power supply input terminal which gives an electric power to the driving circuit, a switch having one end connected to the power supply input terminal and the other end connected to a power supply, a resistor C16 having one end connected to the power supply input terminal and the other end connected to the power supply, and a detecting means C9 which carries out state detection of the recording head by observing a voltage of the resistor C16.
