PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dust detection unit for vacuum cleaners, which is capable of detecting the presence/absence of dust on a cleaned object surface when cleaning and informing it to a user. SOLUTION: This dust detection unit includes a body having an air suction passage for moving suction air including dust and waste materials sucked via a suction nozzle on its inside, a detection sensor disposed at the air suction passage of the body and detecting whether or not the dust and waste materials pass through via the air suction passage, a lamp part actuated according to a signal from the detection sensor, a rotation part provided in the body to be rotated by air flowing in or moving the air suction passage of the body, and a power generator rotated by the rotation part and generating an electric power, wherein the body is provided between the suction nozzle and a cleaner body, and the power generator supplies the power for actuating at least the detection sensor and the lamp part.
