<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film having excellent heat and moisture resistances, high strength, few foreign matter defects and excellent viewing angle characteristics, and a liquid crystal display using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display has a polarizing plate protective film comprising one fatty acid cellulose ester film having an acetyl group and a propionyl group between a vertical alignment liquid crystal cell and at least one polarizer, wherein a retardation value (Rt value) of the fatty acid cellulose ester film in the thickness direction defined by formula 1: Rt value=((n<SB>x</SB>+n<SB>y</SB>)/2-n<SB>z</SB>)×d is 60-300 nm, and the protective film is directly laid on the vertical alignment liquid crystal cell. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
