PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic detection apparatus and a magnetic detection method for accurately sensing a position in which the sensitivity of a magnetic detection sensor has a peak. SOLUTION: The magnetic detection apparatus 10 comprises: a tesla meter sensor 14A for detecting a magnetic field; a sensor position detecting magnet 30 having a magnet portion for generating the magnetic field applied to the tesla meter sensor 14A, and having a tip narrower than a profile of the tesla meter sensor 14A viewed in the direction of the sensitivity of the tesla meter sensor 14A; a horizontal slider 22A and a vertical slider 22B for relatively moving the tesla meter sensor 14A and the sensor position detecting magnet 30; and a computer 18 for calculating the position in which the sensitivity of the tesla meter sensor 14A has the peak based on an output value outputted from the tesla meter sensor 14A when the tesla meter sensor 14A and the sensor position detecting magnet 30 are relatively moved by the horizontal slider 22A and the vertical slider 22B in a proximate state.
