The arrangement (10) has a retaining device (102) formed as a rectangular shaped box and formed between a longitudinal side and a broad side (110). The box is openable at the longitudinal side such that electric arc extinguishing plates (100) are insertable into the box from the open longitudinal side. The plates with their broad side are aligned parallel to front sides of the box such that a stacking direction runs in a longitudinal direction of the box. The plates are held by a rib (124) at a distance to each other, where the rib is projected from the broad side to an interior of the box. An independent claim is also included for an electric arc discharge chamber comprising a contact point.
