<p>A brake system for an elevator in which generation of braking force of a braking device having an electromagnetic coil brakes movement of a cab. The braking force is generated by stopping electrification of the electromagnetic coil, and stopped by electrifying the electromagnetic coil. The operating voltage for electrifying the electromagnetic coil is generated by conversion of inputted voltage by an inverter. The inverter is controlled by a brake controller so as to switch the waveform of the operating voltage alternately between positive and negative. Electrical connection between the inverter and the electromagnetic coil can be switched by a first switch. The operating voltage becomes zero voltage periodically, so that the first switch can be made to be small. The operating voltage is adjusted by control by the brake controller, so that operation of the braking device can be controlled more finely.</p> |
