PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display element capable of reducing degradation of contrast when light from light emitting parts is efficiently emitted. SOLUTION: This display element includes: light emitting parts 120 arranged on a reference plane SS, and supplying light; and an angle conversion part 110 having reflecting surfaces 205 around the light emitting parts 120, and emitting the light from the light emitting parts 120 by converting the angle thereof by reflecting the light from the light emitting parts 120 entering into the reflecting surfaces 205 to the emitting side; and satisfies the following conditional expression when it is defined that an angle formed by the reflecting surface 205 and the reference plane SS and the refraction index of a member constituting the angle conversion part 110 areθ(radian) and n, respectively.
