PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein the operation for the conventional tool is troublesome, because an insertion part has to be inserted properly in a narrow notched part and has to be pulled out from a fastened part with a large force, when pulling it out from the notched part, and bare optical fiber fitted in a mechanical splicing part is moved in the pulling operation and splicing loss is increased between the optical fiber and a built-in optical fiber. SOLUTION: A base 152 is pushed into the optical connector assembly tool 140, in a direction from a lower side toward an upper side. Thus, the gap between a splice substrate 10 and a lid 20 is expanded for a predetermined length, and the space formed between the fitting faces of the splice substrate 10 and the lid 20 is expanded. Next, an optical cable 120 is inserted between the splice substrate 10 and the lid 20, which constitute the mechanical splicing part via housing chamber 137 with the blank optical fiber 121 as a leading end.
