A work member having a ringlike part and, composed of a foot part and a link part, an external wall part is formed from ringlike crude materials. The link part is detached from the work member to thereby form intermediate footed ringlike member (20c) having ringlike part (22c) and foot part (26c). Burr (29c) is removed while expanding the inside diameter of the foot part (26c) of the intermediate footed ringlike member (20c) to thereby finish a carrier as a footed ringlike member. Accordingly, the number of production steps until carrier finishing can be reduced as compared with that required in the performing of diameter expansion for foot part (26c) and removal of burr (29c) by separate steps, thereby shortening the time spent up to carrier finishing.
