<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure sharp, high image quality of images of various forms, to simplify image density control by use of a test pattern, thereby shortening control time, and reducing a quantity of toner consumed, and to appropriately control the density of a solid part. <P>SOLUTION: The image density control device includes: a multivalue screen processing section 23 that performs multivalue screen processing for a multivalue image signal; a peripheral density level acquiring section 31 by which, based on the gradation value of a screen signal acquired by the multivalue screen processing section, the peripheral density level of a pixel in an observing window with a target pixel as its reference is acquired; and a gradation conversion processing section 32 for obtaining an exposure control value for each pixel by performing gradation conversion processing such that the number of gradations, which matches a laser modulation circuit 35, is increased according to a conversion condition matching the peripheral density level acquired by the peripheral density level acquiring section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
