<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an apparatus for cleaning exhaust gas, in which the apparatus the movement of an alkali to a base material of a NOx holding/reducing catalyst, in which a honeycomb is used as the base material and which is used for cleaning exhaust gas, is restrained and the NOx holding performance of the NOx holding/reducing catalyst is improved, and to provide the apparatus for cleaning exhaust gas, which is obtained by the manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the apparatus for cleaning exhaust gas comprises the steps of: treating the surface of the honeycomb base material having an OH group with a solvent mixture containing a precursor of an alkali-resistant metal oxide exhibiting durability to the alkali being a NOx holding material; heating the honeycomb base material treated thus so that an undercoat layer, which has uniform thickness equal to or thicker than that of a single molecular layer of the alkali-resistant metal oxide and with which inlets of the surface pores of the honeycomb base material are not covered substantially, is layered on the honeycomb base material; and arranging a carrier layer containing the NOx holding material at the least on the undercoat layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
