PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for managing layout pattern data for a liquid crystal display device that easily copies pattern data while maintaining a hierarchical structure. SOLUTION: If copy destination design data has pattern data of the same name, virtual design data is generated by copying pattern data to be copied. Virtual block data is created in the virtual design data. The pattern data to be copied is inserted under the virtual block data to create copy pattern data. A suffix is attached to each data of the copy pattern data. The copy pattern data is copied to the copy destination design data. Only the virtual block data is deleted at the copy destination, and the virtual design data is deleted.
