<p>[PROBLEMS TO BE SOLVED] A printer is prepared so that no person other than a printer manager can change the setting of its specially conditioned specification. [MEANS FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEMS] A printer specification setting method is provided with first software that can be used for the access of information with respect to the setting of a special condition with a printer control unit and second software that is constructed to exchange information only with the first software and is prepared to change the setting of the special condition in cooperation with the first software. The printer specification setting method makes the first and second software start up on a computer and takes special condition setting information of the printer control in the first software. The second software changes the special condition setting information taken by the first software and returns the changed special condition setting information to the first software. The first software writes the changed special condition setting information returned by the second software in the printer control unit. The first software compares a password taken from the printer control unit with a password added to the changed special condition setting information returned by the second software. If the passwords are not identical, the first software cannot be permitted to write the changed special condition setting information in the printer control.</p> |
