A contact and an electric connector are provided to enable a contact unit to perform back and forth motion when the contact unit is inserted into a lower portion by a counterpart contact, thereby increasing effective wiping distance. A base unit(21) is fixed to a housing. The first spring unit(22) is extended from a base unit upward. The second spring unit(23) is extended from the first spring unit upward. A contact unit(24) is installed on the upper side of the end of the second spring unit. The base unit includes a fixing(21a), a substrate connecting unit(21b), and an anti overstress unit(21d). A board connecting unit installed in the front side of the fixing unit is connected to a circuit board. The anti overstress unit is projected upward from the fixing unit. The first spring unit is formed in C shape. A leading end of the first spring unit is returned downward.
