Apparatus for controlling the operations or parameters of a machine, particularly an inertia welding machine of the type in parent patent in response to its speed of rotation comprises (a) a detector situated so as to measure the rotational speed of the machine (b) a device generating a first signal proportional to the detected speed (c) a number of actuating devices each having a reference element generating a second signal (d) a comparator for the above first and second signals (e) a relay actuated by the comparator when the first signal exceeds the second i.e. the reference signal, so as to control the machine functions.
