<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic image generating device that can generate high-accuracy data for stereoscopic images, and to provide a stereoscopic image display device that displays the data for stereoscopic images. <P>SOLUTION: The image generating sections 102 and 103 for left and right eyes of the stereoscopic image generating device generate images of a prescribed format by sampling picture elements, by thinning out images photographed by means of cameras 101a and 101b in the horizontal direction, and calculating the color information on the picture elements by changing the calculating method of the color information in accordance with the positions of the sampled picture elements. Therefore, the image generating device can generate the high- accuracy data for stereoscopic images. In addition, since the multiplexing section 105 of the image generating device multiplexes decoded images for left and right eyes with the information on a color information calculating method, the user of this device can easily judge which calculating method can generate color information resulting in the most legible stereoscopic image, by displaying stereoscopic images in a data displaying section 112 for stereoscopic image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
