A method and an apparatus for exchanging signaling in a wireless communication system are provided to supply a method and an apparatus for paging a mobile station to reduce the life span of a battery, reduce access delay and preserve the capacity of the system. A fist over head message including one or more indicators through a mobile station is decoded(206). Each indicator is related to the paged mobile station. It determines whether the mobile station is intended target of the first overhead message based on more than one indicator(208). A second forward link signaling channel is monitored through the mobile station by responding to a decision that the mobile station is the intended target the first overhead message(210). The second overhead message is received through the second forward link signaling channel from wireless access network(212). The second overhead message is decoded(214). |
