A backlight assembly of an LCD is provided to prevent a lamp wire being damaged by enabling a lamp holder to rotate the lamp wire even with the lamp, thereby simplifying the manufacturing process and reducing the manufacturing cost. A backlight assembly is comprised of a lamp(90), a light guide plate(80), an optical sheet(70), and a lamp holder(100). The light guide plate reflects the light from the lamp to a surface light source. The optical sheet is placed on the upper place of the light guide plate. A receiving member contains the lamp, the light guide plate, and the optical sheet. The lamp holder, connected with the lamp by linking with the receiving member, connects a lamp wire even with the lamp. A connector delivers power to the lamp, and fixes the lamp wire evenly with the lamp.
