A fuel injector having an injection nozzle; an injection valve having a movable pin for regulating fuel flow through the injection nozzle; an electromagnetic actuator for moving the pin between a closed position and an open position respectively closing and opening the injection valve; and a tubular supporting body, which has a central channel for feeding pressurized fuel to the injection nozzle, and houses the electromagnetic actuator, the injection valve, and the pin; the supporting body is formed by joining a one-piece tubular top member housing the electromagnetic actuator and made of high-tensile steel with poor magnetic characteristics, and a one-piece tubular bottom member housing the injection valve and made of a low-thermal-expansion alloy.
