A urea or thiourea derivative, its preparation method, and an iNOS inhibitor containing the urea or thiourea derivative are provided to inhibit the generation of NO due to the iNOS derived from the activated macrophage. A urea or thiourea derivative is represented by the formula 1, wherein R1 and R2 are H or an alkyl group; X is O or S; and Y is H, CH3 or an N-carbazolylethyl group. Preferably R1 and R2 are H, a C1-C5 alkyl group, a phenyl group, or a substituted phenyl group.
