A device and a method for inputting Korean characters in a mobile communication terminal are provided to carry out combinations of consonants and diphthongs in addition to vowel/consonant conversion easily, thereby reducing the input time. A device for inputting Korean characters in a mobile communication terminal includes a key input part(200), a control part for generating and combining available vowels or consonants corresponding to inputs of character input keys, a conversion key and a vowel/consonant switching key, and a memory for storing tables for the vowels and the consonants which are converted by the input of the conversion key. The key input part has the character input keys, each of which a vowel and a consonant is allocated to, a conversion key for converting vowels and consonants as set whenever the character input keys are pressed, and the vowel/consonant switching key for determining whether a previously input character is a vowel or a consonant before or after the inputting of the character input keys and controlling the input of a next character according to the determination result.
