MANAGEMENT METHOD FOR DRM CONTENTS BASED IN USUAL HISTORY AND PORTABLE DEVICE USING THE SAME

A method for managing DRM contents on the basis of usage history and a portable terminal using the same are provided to prevent illegal usage of the DRM contents based on abnormal termination of the terminal after using the DRM contents. A method for managing DRM contents comprises the following several steps. A controller checks over whether an execution request key signal for specific DRM contents is inputted from a key input unit(S101). If so, the controller checks whether a license of the selected DRM contents is effective(S102). If so, the controller regenerates a portion or all of the DRM contents(S103). Then, the controller generates a usage history file and stores the generated usage history file at a memory(S104). If there occurs a regeneration terminating request, the controller checks whether execution of the DRM contents is terminated(S105,S106). If there occurs the regeneration terminating request while execution of the DRM contents is not terminated, the controller posts a file name of the DRM contents which is being regenerated(S107) and updates regeneration time of the DRM contents(S108). If the regeneration terminating request is caused by the termination of regenerating the DRM contents, the controller deletes the generated usage history(S109).
