A parking assistant apparatus of a vehicle for maintaining steering gear ratio in automatically parking the vehicle is provided to prevent a driver from getting hurt or being startled by the rotation of a steering wheel, by keeping the steering gear ratio at the first steering gear ratio or changing the steering gear ratio in the range of the first and second steering gear ratios in proportion to vehicle speed by an AFS(Active Front Steering) system. A parking assistant apparatus(100) of a vehicle for maintaining steering gear ratio in automatically parking the vehicle is composed of an automatic parking system(110) for calculating a parking track after checking an available parking space and generating a rack bar control signal by receiving vehicle speed from an engine and an AFS system(120) for receiving a rack bar control signal and then, keeping the steering gear ratio at first steering gear ratio regardless of the vehicle speed in case of an automatic parking mode.
