1415563 Warp-knitted fabrics OPTI-HOLD- 1NG AG 5 April 1973 [7 April 1972] 16230/73 Heading D1K A sliding clasp fastener comprises on each warp-knitted stringer tape 1 a row of interlocking elements 4 each having two substantially overlapping arms 5, 6 lying substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the fastener, the arms 5, 6 being connected by coupling heads 9 at the interlocking edges and adjacent elements being connected by parts 10, at least one arm 5, 6 being held in the loops of one course of several wales of the warp-knitted stringer tape. As shown, Fig. 1, a coiled plastics monofilament, forms elements 4 and both arms 5, 6 are held in the same stitches. As shown, Fig. 8, the monofil may be a flat meander with flattened coupling heads 9 about which the fabric is knitted before folding the meander so that heads 9 lie along the edge of the tape. Strengthening strands (17), Fig. 6 (not shown) may be held in the tape by sewing.
