A process for producing organic nanoparticles which comprises mixing a solution of an organic material in a good solvent therefor with a solvent which is compatible with the good solvent and is a poor solvent for the organic material to precipitate the organic material and thereby prepare a dispersion of fine organic particles of a nanometer size, wherein a polymer having a mass-average molecular weight of 1,000 or higher represented by the following general formula (1) is incorporated in the dispersion.
