<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form recording marks which obtain more reliable and excellent reproduced signals while suppressing the number of recording parameters. <P>SOLUTION: The recording mark forming method of the optical disk drive 1 forms recording marks on the optical disk 2 recorded with the parameters of a pulse train for forming recording marks according to the recording information in its predetermined area. The pulse train includes: a head section containing head pulses; end section containing a cooling period; and a center section comprising the center period which is the period between the head section and the end section. This method reads the recording parameters from the optical disk 2 having: the recording parameter group of the head section for controlling the heat on the front edges of the recording marks; and the recording parameters including the start position of the cooling period for controlling the heat on the rear edges of the recording marks, recorded in its predetermined area, and uses them for recording.
