<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form recording marks which obtain more reliable and excellent reproduced signals while suppressing the number of recording parameters. <P>SOLUTION: This optical disk drive 1 reads the recording parameters from the optical disk 2 recorded with the recording parameters of the pulse train in its predetermined area for forming the recording marks according to the recording information and uses them for recording. A pulse train includes a head section containing head pulses, the end section containing a cooling period, and a center section. The recording parameters includes: the recording parameter group of the head to control the heat on the head edges where the recording mark length from a first predetermined recording mark length to the maximum recording mark length are classified into the same group; and the start position of the cooling period to control the heat on the rear edges where the recording mark lengths from a second predetermined recording mark length to the maximum recording mark length are classified into the same group.
