<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk unit which provides good recording quality even if the optimum recording strategy data for an optical disk is not stored and the recording characteristic has changed. <P>SOLUTION: The optical disk unit stores standard recording strategy data and the optimum recording strategy data for every disk manufacturer into a memory 18, sets the strategy corresponding to the optimum recording strategy data when the name of the manufacturer recorded in the optical disk 10 exists in the memory. When the name of the manufacturer does not exist, the optical disk unit sets the strategy of the standard strategy data, records: a test data based on the set strategy; and test data based on the recommended recording strategy data of the optical disk, reproduces both test data, chooses the strategy corresponding to either of the reproduced data whose reproducing quality is superior, and records the strategy data into the optical disk. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
