<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly prevent the falling of an upper surface plate of a polishing device and thereby properly improve the safety of the polishing device, in a manufacturing process of a glass substrate for a magnetic disc. <P>SOLUTION: This manufacturing method of the glass substrate for the magnetic disc is furnished with a substrate preparing process to prepare the glass substrate 50 and a polishing process to polish the glass substrate 50 by using the polishing device 10 to carry out double side polishing on both main surfaces of the glass substrate 50, and the polishing device 10 is furnished with the upper surface plate 16 on a lower surface of which a polishing pad 202 is adhered, a lower surface plate 18 on an upper surface opposed to the upper surface plate 16 of which the polishing pad 202 is adhered, a main body part 12 to hold the upper surface plate 16 from above and a rope type member 22 to hang down the upper surface plate 16 when the upper surface plate 16 is removed from the main body part 12 as one end and the other end are fixed on the upper surface plate 16. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
