<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information terminal capable of improving the reading accuracy of a fingerprint sensor. <P>SOLUTION: A mobile phone 1 includes an upper casing 2, a lower casing 3, and a hinge part 4. A slot 5 is disposed near the hinge part 4 on the back side of the lower casing 3. The slot 5 has a first inclined surface 5a slanting downward in a direction separating from the hinge part 4, a bottom part 5b, and a second inclined surface 5c slanting upward in a direction separating from the hinge part 4.
