<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a top-emission type light-emitting device which achieves a reduction of an emission spectrum band or an improvement in the emitted light quantity. <P>SOLUTION: The top-emission type light-emitting device includes a board 11, a light-reflecting layer 13 which is formed on the board 11 to reflect light, a transparent layer 1 which is formed on the light-reflecting layer 13 to transmit light, a transparent electrode 14 which is formed on the transparent layer 1 to transmit light, a light-emitting layer 15 which is formed on the transparent electrode 14 to emit light, and a semireflective electrode 16 which is formed on the light-emitting layer 15 to transmit part of light from the light-emitting layer 15 and reflect the rest of the light. The transparent layer 1 is made of a material that has a quenching coefficient smaller than that of the transparent electrode 14.
