PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time required for processing to a rewriting command. SOLUTION: A semiconductor disk device comprises a host interface 12, a microcontroller 14, a buffer memory 16, a storage medium 18 and a block position management part 20. The storage medium 18 is provided with a plurality of sets (N sets) of a pair of semiconductor memory chips A<SB>1</SB>and B<SB>1</SB>. When inputting the rewriting command to one semiconductor memory chip, data of whole sectors of constituting a block including a sector of a rewriting object, is transferred to the buffer memory 16. The buffer memory 16 rewrites the data of the sector of the rewriting object, and the data transferred to the buffer memory 16 is transferred to a block of an erased area of the other semiconductor memory chip.
