PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output data of a displayed image even when a storage device is not loaded. SOLUTION: In an electronic paper where a plurality of pixel circuits 60 each of which has a pixel electrode 53, a transparent electrode 51 connected to a common line 35 and a display layer 55 holding a display color in a non-power state are provided according to intersections between a plurality of selection lines 33 and a plurality of signal lines 34, each pixel circuit 60 is provided with: a TFT 61 for applying the potential of the signal line 34 to the pixel electrode 53 according to a signal from the selection line 33; and a ferroelectric capacitor 70 wherein one end is connected to the pixel electrode 53, while the other end is connected to the common line 35 and the pixel electrode 53 is connected to the signal line through the TFT 61, so that a potential difference between the pixel electrode 53 and the transparent electrode 51 is applied to both ends to polarize the capacitor 70 and the polarized state is held in a non-power state. Further, a sense amplifier 80 is connected to one end of each signal line 34 and an output of each sense amplifier 80 is input to a display image output part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
