PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which can certainly detect the amount of dust absorbed in a dust bag. SOLUTION: A dust amount sensor 45 which detects the amount of dust in a dust bag 8 with light receiving level in each light receiving part 43 against light emission from each light emission part 41 is formed. The light emission level from each light emission part 41 of the dust amount sensor 45 is set at the minimum light receiving level so that it can be received through each light receiving part 43. The sensitivity change of the light receiving part 41 in the dust amount sensor 45 is corrected and the amount of absorbed dust can be certainly detected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
