PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning reel which can smoothly rotate a spool in the early time of casting to improve a flying distance and can impart suitable braking force to the spool to effectively prevent backlashes, without having to unnecessarily lower the flying distance, at the final period of casting. SOLUTION: Since a spring member 60 for energizing a conductor 40, in a direction separated from a magnetic field is formed in a tapered shape whose outer diameter is gradually enlarged in the axial direction of the spool 3 in the spinning reel 1, the energizing force of the spring member 60 acting on a mobile member 25 is gradually changed, without suddenly or stepwisely changing the energizing force in the final period of the casting when the rotation rate of the spool 3 is lowered. Hence, the conductor 40 is slowly separated from the magnetic field in a not suddenly changing state to impart proper braking force to the spool 3 in the final period of the casting.
