<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to command playback of a desired stream from among a plurality of streams through simple operation. <P>SOLUTION: A PinP/Audio Mix On-Off button 321 is the button that is pressed when a playback apparatus is commanded to switch On/Off of PinP or Audio Mixing. A PinP/Audio Mix Shift button 322 is a button for changing the meanings assigned to a video switching button 323, an audio switching button 324 and a caption switching button 325. The PinP/Audio Mix Shift button 322 is pressed and the video switching button 323, the audio switching button 324 and the caption switching button 325 are then pressed, thereby the playback apparatus 5 is commanded to switch a slave screen 252 or a stream relating to secondary audio.
