PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide copper foil excellent in wettability by making a substance having a characteristic group with affinity to a solvent attached on a copper foil surface, preferably, to provide copper foil excellent in adhesion to an active material slurry paste used for an anode electrode of a lithium ion cell. SOLUTION: A coat containing an azole compound with a carbonyl group is formed on a copper foil main body surface, an MMP contact angle is 19°or less, preferably, an amount of C=O of the copper foil surface is 2 to 8 atm% by XPS analysis, and the coat may contain an amine compound.
