PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio that does not require any antennas and RF processing sections determined for each radio system to cope with a plurality of radio systems in diversity reception, and can reduce the need of special optimum arrangement design for positions for installing the antenna and RF processing section and the number of antennas especially in an on-vehicle radio, and to provide a diversity control method. SOLUTION: The radio 1 has a plurality of radio processing sections 5a, or the like and a radio signal control section 20 for controlling the radio processing section 5a, or the like, and performs diversity control. The radio processing section 5a, or the like has a tunable antenna 10a, or the like having variable reception band characteristics. A radio signal control section 20 selects the number and position of radio processing sections 5a, or the like assigned from a plurality of radio processing sections 5a, or the like according to a radio system, transmits a frequency and bandwidth setting information to the side of the tunable antenna 10a, or the like, and performs diversity control according to the radio system by controlling the amplitude and phase of a radio signal Rfa, or the like received by the selected radio processing section 5a, or the like.
