PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface mounted oscillator that improves productivity by reducing influence of generated heat of an IC chip on a frequency temperature characteristic. SOLUTION: In the crystal oscillator for surface mounting configured by fixing an IC chip 2 with an oscillation circuit integrated to an inner bottom face of recessed container main body 1, fixing an outer circumferential part of an extending quartz crystal piece of a lead-out electrode 8 to an inner wall step part of the container main body 1 and covering an opening edge face of the container main body with a cover 4, a plurality of notches 10 for increasing the area of the outer bottom surface of the container main body 1 substantially are provided on the outer bottom surface of the container main body 1.
