METHOD FOR UPGRADING WIRING LAYER LAYOUT DATA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for updating layout data that is capable of reducing the cost of updates by reducing the number of upgraded layers when upgrading wiring layer layout data, and of preventing circuit characteristics from deteriorating due to upgrades. SOLUTION: The method for updating wiring layer layout data includes a process for reading a corrected new net list; a process for comparing layout data to the new net list; a process for checking nets with errors according to the comparison result; a process for setting layers to be upgraded and layers to be un-upgraded according to the wiring elements of the nets with errors; a process for setting the wiring elements of the nets with errors as floating wiring; a process for assigning the floating wiring as the wiring elements of the upgraded nets; a process for creating upgraded nets based on the nets yet to be upgraded and the floating wiring; and a process for cutting branches off the upgraded nets.
