Disclosed is a method for producing an electrode slurry which is used for producing a lithium ion secondary battery having high capacity and excellent charge/discharge cycle characteristics. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing an electrode slurry for lithium ion secondary batteries, which contains an electrode active material, a carboxymethyl cellulose, a binder and water. In this method, an electrode slurry is produced by the following steps (1)-(3) using two kinds of carboxymethyl celluloses having different aqueous solution viscosities.
