BACKLIGHT INVERTER, ITS DRIVE METHOD, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight inverter capable of detecting an arc generation state by delaying phases of output voltages of a transformer of which the phases are inverted with respect to each other; its drive method, and a liquid crystal display device.

SOLUTION: This backlight inverter includes: a transformer outputting a first voltage and a second voltage by stepping up an input voltage by a winding ratio of a primary winding to a secondary winding; a protection level signal generation part delaying the phases of the first voltage and the second voltage by predetermined portions to generate a protection level signal by adding the amplitudes to each other; an arc condition detection part generating a detection signal by comparing the protection level signal with a reference voltage; and a drive control part controlling maintenance and stop of supply of the input voltage supplied to the transformer in response to the detection signal. For the phase delay between the first voltage and the second voltage, the maximum value of the protection level signal is set larger than the reference voltage in response to an additional (another) phase delay by an open circuit of the transformer.
