PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an identification and evaluation method of microorganisms, capable of identifying microorganisms such as bacteria with high accuracy and evaluating metabolic activity and the like. SOLUTION: The method comprises supplying a sample liquid containing microorganisms of measuring object to a sample base plate 10 having a pair of electrodes, applying a predetermined voltage between the electrodes to subject the microorganisms to dielectrophoresis, photographing microorganisms moving by dielectrophoresis with an imaging device (CCD camera) 25 to get moving pictures, examining moving behavior of each of the microorganisms by image analysis treatment of the moving pictures with a computer 30, and identifying the microorganisms and/or evaluating the microorganisms based on the moving behavior.
