PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording/reproducing system for encrypting data with sufficient strength without imposing a burden upon a user and reducing risk of data leakage even when the recording/reproducing device is stolen. SOLUTION: The recording/reproducing system includes: a recording/reproducing device which encrypts/decrypts data using an encryption key, records and reproduces the data; a battery which has a storage part and is attachable/detachable to the recording/reproducing device; a charger which has a storage part in which the encryption key is stored and charges the battery; and an encryption key copying means for copying the encryption key stored in the storage part of the charger into the storage part of the battery, when connecting the battery to the charger.
