PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of accurately controlling relative movement of an imaging optical system and an imaging device without using an expensive CPU. SOLUTION: In the imaging apparatus where the imaging optical system 2 and the imaging device 14 are relatively moved, an actuator is driven and controlled by repeating drive and stop of the actuator between when confirming the relative moving amount of the imaging optical system 2 and the imaging device 14 and when confirming it next. Thus, the relative moving positions of the imaging optical system 2 and the imaging device 14 are finely controlled from the confirmation of the relative moving amount of the imaging optical system 2 and the imaging device 14 before the next confirmation thereof. Therefore, the relative positional relation of the imaging optical system 2 and the imaging device 14 is made close to the desired one, and accurate moving control is achieved.
