POLARIZATION ANALYZER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an analyzer of simple constitution for a Stokes parameter, free from optical axis alignment, and allowing precise measurement. SOLUTION: The analyzer includes a branching means 2 for branching a light beams 1 into at least four branch optical paths 31-34, a means 4 for carrying out prescribed photo-processing after generating the four branch optical paths, means 61-64for measuring respective light intensities from the four branch optical paths, and a means for calculating the Stokes parameter indicating a polarization state, based on the light intensities, and the branching means includes a diffraction grating 2g, and uses optical paths generated corresponding to different diffraction angles as the branch optical paths 31-34.
