PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner which can compile and dispose dust while controlling temporal deterioration of sucking force. SOLUTION: In a first state when the air trunk resistance of a first air trunk 21 increases by the increase of the amount of dust collected in a main dust collecting chamber 22, the dust diverges to a second air trunk 23 together with the air sucked and the microdust D2 collected at a first microdust filter 27 is collected at a second microdust filter 28 by switching into a second state so that the amount of air sucked into the first air tank 21 and the second air tank 23 can be ensured and the temporal deterioration of sucking force can be controlled. By switching into a third state the microdust D2 collected at the second microdust filter 28 returns to the main dust collecting chamber 22 by a return air trunk so that even dust collected at the first microdust filter 27 and the second microdust filter 28 can be compiled and retained in the main dust collecting chamber 22. The dust inside a dust collecting unit 7 can be easily compiled and disposed of by just disposing dust in the main dust collecting chamber 22. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
