The present disclosure relates to a deodorant composition comprising, in a cosmetically acceptable medium: a) at least one water-soluble zinc salt; b) salicylic acid; c) at least one C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>5 </SUB>monoalcohol; and d) at least 2% by weight of water, relative to the total weight of the composition. Another aspect of the present disclosure relates to the use of salicylic acid in a deodorant composition as stabilizing agent. The present disclosure also relates to a method of deodorizing, e.g., a method for treating human axillary odors, comprising applying an effective amount of said deodorant composition to a human axillary surface.
